Blood on the Flag - A poem contest entry for Koalakraft
I see blood on the flag
Showing the courage to play hardball
Breaking the shackles of slavery
Lessons history never forgets to recall.
War drums played on the tricolour chariot
Pushed the colonial oppressors to retreat
Soldiers who marched behind enemy lines
Louder than the guns resonate their heartbeats.
From the mountains to the far oceans
Where freedom of thoughts is the final opinion,
Every time they dare to trespass on our borders
The only endgame we know is through rebellion.
I see blood on the flag still today
I see hope emerging from all that we lost
And proud as we are as the nation unites
Let the gun salutes and wet eyes remind us the cost.
