In Conversation with Author Jagruti Gandhi

In the 21st century where the world is engrossed in the digital mediums there lies a few sections in the youth who are genuinely interested in writing.  Let us meet Jagruti Gandhi who is one of the most talented (fresh) authors of the present time. She has written the book “Its not Gyan Book” “ In Love with Him”. We are glad to have her on this platform where she will be not only answering a few questions about her author’s journey, but some questions that have come across in the survey of Koala Kraft.

Q1)Every writer has a deciding point about when they started writing. Tell us how did you develop interest in writing and what was your first instance in writing ?

Ans :    Dreams…

Shut your eyes and start to dream,

Cultivate and let it grow,

Seeds are they planted for future goal;

Keep Dreaming! Till your success is at its’ shore,

Then, shut your eyes and dare to dream some more…!

-Jagruti Gandhi

Poems were my first friends. These poetic simple words were written down in Standard Seventh.

Since, childhood I have enjoyed writing small verses about nature and surroundings. But this habit of writing; got forgotten somewhere after entering the professional world. Working into the service sector was a tough task where fun and carefree days were left behind.

This pandemic gave me the time to recall the skills of composing. Well, my writing skills are amateur and work in progress. I hope my readers appreciate it.

Q2) Tell the reader more about your solo book? How did you come up with such an amazing title and also attach the link for the purchase.

Ans :  ‘It’s not a Gyan book’ is my first published book. The idea of this book developed steadily as I was reading a lot of motivational books during COVID. I started journaling about these books which were to write summaries and important lessons from that particular book which led to this non-fiction. It became a pocketbook of inventiveness and stories to inspire happiness, hope, and gratitude.

Well, talking about my next book is like a pampered child. Writing romance novels is fun, while setting the characters, makes you fall in love with the characters and has a great plot with twist and turns! But the story should revolve around emotion called ‘Love'

‘In Love! With Him’ is also transforming love into a real relationship with maturity and commitment to forging a genuine love connection lifelong!

Both books are available on Kindle, Flipkart and Amazon and Kobo

Q3) We did a survey in Koala Kraft where we have come up with several questions and we would be glad if you help the youth by answering those.  Have you ever faced a creative block – where the writers can’t think of anything creative for a specific period of time? How do you think a person can overcome such a situation?

Ans :  Yes! I did face it as well. Instead of ‘Creative Block’, let’s call it ‘Creative Slowdown’ where the developing skills and creative thoughts are sluggish. We all authors face it once in a while…

You can simply overcome this block by changing the environment of writing. If you are following a pattern, then make some changes like take a break from writing. Go for walks, meet your friends observe the surroundings, use nature as inspiration, and seek creativity from watching plays and reading.  Slowly, new ideas will get generated; start journaling your ideas and thoughts. This way you can overcome the situation.

Q4) Do you feel digital media has acted as a boon for writers ? How is your experience with digital media?

Ans :  Everything in the world has its Pro and Con’s. It depends on how we have an outlook for the same. As far as social media is concerned, it is not a necessary factor to be a successful author. Yes! It can be an important tool to promote your work. It engages your audiences. I have noticed that the more successful an author is, the less time they tend to spend on social media. You can’t Facebook or TikTok your way to publishing success without first being a good writer.

I strongly believe that digital media and print media influences different masses altogether in both positive as well as negative ways. Digital media has been trending these days as people have a liking for E-books and Audio-books.

But being old school, I still love the smell of new books and the feel of flipping pages.

Q5) What are the few qualities you feel a writer should imbibe in themselves to constantly do better in the field of writing?

Ans : There are many qualities a writer can enhance, but to name a few will be reading. Read all kind of books possible, it will just add more knowledge and increase your imagination power.

Make a daily habit of writing. Revise your own writing, pay attention to accuracy, add correct descriptions and get feedback. Next, any sort of creative endeavor attracts criticism. Accept valid criticism that you get and aim for more perfection in your work. You also have to possess the elements of novelty, innovation, and specificity in your content to become a successful content writer.

Q6) Do you feel writing is a creative talent a person is born with or it is a skill that improves over time.

Ans : I guess it’s both. Some people have a natural flair of writing while others can also develop ‘writing’ as skill through the learning process and dedication towards this creativity skill.
