Talking about the Future of Digital Media with Founder of TCQ – Priyanshu Mohanty

 It is very evident that there is a rise in the usage of digital media than the traditional means of India. Let us discuss about the pros of digital media and what Priyanshu thinks about the topic “Talking about the Future of Digital Media”.

Q1) Hello Priyanshu , we are glad to have you in the segment “Talking about the future of Digital Media” By Koala Kraft. Tell us few lines about you , so that the readers get a brief idea.

                                               

Ans :I have a passion for digital media and journalism, have earned my degree in mass communication, and I am really enthusiast about knowing about culture and history. I also enjoy reading people &  stories about development which I can say the development stories , so after becoming interested in all of this ,In 2021 I started my own digital media company TCQ( The Consequentials) was founded.My goal is to present news in the best way possible and creatively so that peoplecan share their opinions and exercise their right to free speech in a positive and right way . In tcq, my team and I developed 6k informative and regularly updated content in the most creative way possible, and 200+ interns have worked withtcq. Tcq has also collaborated with Xim, Birla, and Venture in Kolkata. Apart from my field, I have gained experience in many fields such as education consultation, manufacturing, sales, and event management since 2019. And today, I am  working on an app that will let everyone consume news in the most enjoyable manner possible, and I am learning a lot along the way.

Q2) Digital media can add supportive media like voice, videos etc . Do you feel that this is an added opportunity for people to believe digital media more.

Ans : The fact is that people are already very supportive of digital media because only you can see people expressing their opinions on any topic and that is how digital media works when there are platforms and devices that give you all the latest updates and the People get addicted to it With video and sound, we actually have proof and can update it live. But the main question is how relevant is the content we watch, because in the age of digital content and AI , they are easy to manipulate and sometimes hateful videos or fake videos and audio are spread, so we have to be very careful, and do the fact check properly before believing about something.

Q3) Digital media also aids in providing timely news. Print mediums do provide news or can only provide news after the print next day. What is your take on this topic ?

Ans :  I believe that no matter how much the digital era develops, print media will always exist because there will always be individuals on the planet who enjoy the touch, feel, and smell of paper, people who will never let print perish. The print media has carved out a place for itself by allowing people to pick up a newspaper and read it, and the greatest thing is that it does not require internet connectivity; the internet server may be down for two days, but the printing willcontinue.The most significant aspect of the newspaper is that it is trustworthy  and verifiable. While digital media contains a lot of fake news, print media does not. There are also many remote regions where there may be no internet connectivity, but newspapers will keep people informed of frequent  developments, and print media will be the greatest means for locals to acquire local news updates.No matter how far the digital world progresses, print media will never lose touch.

Q4) Do you find any negative aspects of digital media ?

Ans : The negative effect for digital media is that people still don't know much about content and what type of content they should consume. For example, in one of your questions, I mentioned that fake news and unnecessary information are being leaked, hatred videos and comments are spreading, and people are believing it without any fact checking, but we should understand that we should check the proper facts before believing it. We have internet and various platforms from which to obtain material, yet many individuals simply subscribe to fun, love, and entertainment content, although we can get a variety of knowledge and learning stuff. Not only that, but I believe there are many other negative aspects to digital media, the most significant of which is content selection.

Q5) Finally do you think the future of Journalism is digital media ?

Ans : Yes, digital media is the future of journalism, and the transformation has begun, with all digital media platforms where you can get numerous updates in minutes, and this is the digital era. I believe that the most difficult aspect of becoming a journalist in the digital era will be gathering the proper data, conducting a quick research, and then presenting the facts, since in this digital age, it is extremely easy to influence people, so we must be very careful that they do not go through incorrect facts. The benefit of digital media is that it allows journalists to write what they want without being restricted. I believe that sometimes in the media, higher authorities want you to write the way they want you to. However, digital media gives you the opportunity to produce free and fair journalism and to provide people with accurate information.
